Modern hunting tools

Modern period

Since the mid-18th century North American French-Indian war through the beginning of the 20th century, human-powered weapons were reduced from the primary weaponry of the battlefield yielding to gunpowder-based weaponry. Sometimes referred to as the "Age of Rifles",this period was characterized by the development of firearms for infantry and cannons for support, as well as the beginnings of mechanized weapons such as the machine gun, the tank and the wide introduction of aircraft into warfare, including naval warfare with the introduction of the aircraft carriers.

In modern period they develop weapon from industrial revolution. They creat some weapon that inspiration from guns. That we call "rifle" for hunting deer or any wild animal in forest.  A rifle is a firearm designed to be fired from the shoulder, with a barrel that has a helical groove or pattern of grooves "rifling" cut into the barrel walls. The raised areas of the rifling are called "lands," which make contact with the projectile for small arms usage, called a bullet, imparting spin around an axis corresponding to the orientation of the weapon. When the projectile leaves the barrel, this spin lends gyroscopic stability to the projectile and prevents tumbling, in the same way that a properly thrown American football or rugby ball behaves. This allows the use of aerodynamically-efficient pointed bullets and thus improves range and accuracy. The word "rifle" originally referred to the grooving, and a rifle was called a "rifled gun." Rifles are used in warfare, hunting and shooting sports. Typically, a bullet is propelled by the contained deflagration of an explosive compound originally black powder, later cordite, and now nitrocellulose, although other means such as compressed air are used in air rifles, which are popular for vermin control, hunting small game, formal target shooting and casual shooting "plinking".

About material that use to made handle of rifle is hard wood but light or some times use plastic to make it light for hold and they took a steel to make gun barrel. It hard enough for hit. Next is balance. They made a part "barrel" think and heavy for decrease force that bump person who shoot that show about balance to make you can resist force from rifle and can stand too. Last for a shape that made for easy to use, at back of rifle we can put it between shoulder ( at armpit) for support to hold, at handle they made it curve for put finger in space on rifle. That Shape made it easy to shoot.

Industrial revolution hunting tools

Industrial revolution

The Industrial Revolution was the transition to new manufacturing processes in the period from about 1760 to some time between 1820 and 1840. This transition included going from hand production methods to machines, new chemical manufacturing and iron production processes, improved efficiency of water power, the increasing use of steam power and the development of machine tools. That mean they stage of revolution about weapon. In this period they commonly to use firearm weapon that we call "guns". This weapon is made from mechanic. It use by gunpowder and use needle to make a power to fire a bullet. It dangerous weapon in long and short range.

About material they use hard wood or sometimes they use "plastic" to make handle for comfortable when they hold it. For gun barrel and gun muzzle they use  metal to made it that the reason why when we shoot it then the muzzle will be heater. Next is about balance. To hold a gun so that they made a gun barrel heavier than muzzle and handle for make force and center to control weight when people shoot or hold it. About dominance of gun in industrial revolution is shape of handle. Mostly of firearm in this period were curve at handle to easy for hold it.

Baroque hunting tools

Baroque hunting tools

In this period they sometimes hunt and their use sword in hunting game.
This Baroque sword can only be classified as transitional: it is a mix of classic Medieval and Late Renaissance that still could have been carried in the Early Baroque. During the transition between these two art historical periods, classic swords had not been completely replaced by rapiers and were still used in battle. In order to cut costs, existing classic swords were often remodeled to adapt them to more "modern" requirements.

This is especially visible when it comes to the blade of our Baroque sword, which is a powerful thrusting weapon as well as a cutting one. One of the three fullers on the ricasso continues along the blade to stop before the final quarter. This is characteristic of Renaissance swords, as is the wood and metal grip partially covered in leather. On the other hand, other elements such as the curved crossguard and the pommel are similar to the ones used for swords in the High Middle Ages. Our Baroque sword comes with a leather scabbard featuring a throat and chape.

Dominance - For sword in this period they commonly about shape. So they make it sharp 2 side. And look slender

Balance , contrat - they make it with kind of iron. They make a sword slender and sharp 2 side. But they make handle look wide. However they can made it balance when they use it to slash.

In this not focus on hunting. That the reason why they make it to neat and beautiful. There mostly made it for show about design.

Renaissance hunting tools

Reinassance hunting tools

Hunting During the Renaissance By Collin Goveia Training Boars/Hogs Rabbits Fishing Weapons used for Hunting Animals hunted using dogs Hawking The Noblest Animal Greyhounds Hawking was a method were trained falcons would catch prey and bring the prey to the owner of the hawk. Greyhounds were a valuable source involved with hunting. These dogs were used to catch prey and bring the prey to their owner just like the falcon The nobles of the Renaissance fished using homemade baskets and nets. They used poles made of wood and lines made of horse hair. Also wired hooks and worms as bait were used. The weapons used were a bow an arrow or crossbow, a lance or spear, short bows and long bows. Horses played a huge part in hunting and transporting.

About sword in renaissance period.Spain is normally cited as the first country to have introduced the rapier, or espada ropera (sword of the robe), during the late 1400s. This designation highlighted the new-found ability for a gentleman to wear these swords with ordinary civilian dress, rather than needing to don his armor. Italy, Germany and England adopted the rapier soon afterwards.

In its most complete and recognizable form, the rapier came into full prominence during the early 16th century. In the mid- 1400s, precursors of the rapier (including the standard cruciform-hilted sword) had begun to develop a primitive knuckle guard and forefinger ring or loop. By 1500, a series of simple bars were joined to the knuckle guard to form a protective hilt. At this time, the blade was still a wide, cutting type, and it is only well into the 16th century that the slender rapier blade was fully developed. This typically thin blade was deemed impractical for use during heavy combat on the battlefield so the rapier was viewed primarily as a “civilian” duelling sword. The new rapier hilt, however, was adopted by the military but with the retention of a wider, more traditional broadsword fighting blade.

Balance - they make sword in slender shape and at head they make it sharp. So that make it light and easy to stab

Dominance - about their design pattern on sword in this period they like to make handle curve or design spiral form. That we call "rapier"

Harmony - their form at handle of sword.  Mostly were spiral form or dome.

Medieval hunting tools

Medieval hunting tools

In the early Medieval Times, for the hunter who killed to survive, education had to be given first. Educating a hunter began when he was only seven years of age. He was then assigned a tutor who taught him basic skills for his trade including fletching, crafting and surviving in the wilderness. When the young hunter was seven, he was appointed to watch and learn from his master while taking care of tools and learning basic concepts.

Hunting for the aristocracy was not viewed as a way to survive, but as pure entertainment and training. Weapons were different and even crossbows were frequently used. The most commonly used weapon, however was the bow (specially the short bow). Additionally, spears, swords and shields were all used when nobles hunted.

Swords - Swords were also used for hunting. They were mainly used for training purposes and to kill animals when already hurt by a projectile.

Hunting of course was a major source of medieval entertainment. Additionally, hunting was a way of survival for many and during castle siege, hunting was almost always practiced inside a castle since mice and birds could be used as food for the defenders.

This period is first period that use "Knight" and about solider that use sword, shield and armor. So that make medieval had more design about pattern on weapon. They make it same pattern to know about unity and for class of solider. About sword or dagger they made it for balance to use because it made from iron that make it heavy. So they can made a big handle to make it balance.
For the last is about material that they use is iron that can cut iron.

Roman hunting tools

 Roman hunting tools

In roman, Hunting was also popular. People hunted animals for fun as well as for food. The Romans introduced fallow deer to Britain, just for hunting.
Some things the Romans did for fun were horrible. They enjoyed fights between gladiators, and fights between people and animals. These bloodthirsty shows were put on in front of crowds in large arenas called amphitheatres.

Another form of gladiatorial combat involved the "hunting" and slaying of wild animals, call the venatio, or hunt. Exotic wild beasts from the far reaches of the Roman empire were brought to Rome and hunts were held in the morning prior to the afternoon main event of gladiatorial duels. The hunts were held in the Forum, the Saepta, and in the Circus Maximus, though none of these venues offered protection to the crowd from the wild animals on display. Special precautions were taken to prevent the animals from escaping these venues, such as the erection of barriers and the digging of ditches. Very few animals survived these hunts though they did sometimes defeat the bestiarius, or hunters of wild beast. Thousands of wild animals would be slaughtered in one day. For instance, at the games Trajan held when he became emperor, over 9,000 animals were killed.

In roman, there different from Greek because in Greek they commonly about art and beauty but it roman people commonly about power to show off. So their dominance about power their sword or dagger that use to hunt lion no make for art or beauty but it use material from metal that can cut anything they care about power and heavy.

For unity in roman. There use not only sword or dagger but also shield and armor in same form. Their sword and dagger are like triangle form and sharp 2 side that make it unity in roman

Greek huntingtool

Greek hunting tools

Ancient Greeks believed that hunting was discovered by the gods, who taught people how to do it. Numerous legends and myths about hunting involve gods and semigods: centaurs are hunters, Perseus is considered the first hunter, while Castor learns on horseback the art of chasing the prey in the woods and to kill it by spear. Pollux chased and killed wild animals with the help of the dogs. Aristotle said that the hunt is just and natural, by means of which man claims what belongs to him but he must prove skill and knowledge for that.Hunting weaponry evolved from sticks to lances and daggers, having fixed a well sharped silex piece on the head. Groups armed with spears and boulders attacked the big game and in these fights, victims were on both camps.

Firstly, I want to tell about dominance of hunting weapon like spear and shield in Ancient Greek period they must use lance and shield to hunt lion for show or to look more power. But there lance are look have more design that mesopotamia or Egypt they make it for beauty and mostly lance had tuft that make from fur animal and for there shield that have many pattern to show a art and for tell about class of solider.

For unity of there weapon, in this period use metal to their lance and shield  they always make a weapon and shield with same material and same color if there use color gold they will make it all gold. For pattern is same like a color. So that make Greek have more regulation.

Thirdly, about balance  in this period. Before Ancient Greek human use spear or bow. But in Greek there commonly use spear and shield together. That can attack and defense themselves in one time. That make balance in feeling..

Prehistoric hunting tools

Analyze pre-historic of

Dominance - about spear they're many kinds of spear and there are many kinds different of spear for example some kind of spear has pointy end but while the other kinds are arrow form. So dominance of spear is about the sharp end of the spear.

Contrast - The first spear made by wood. So that make it rough and easily broken
After that human use new material such as bamboo to make a spear that make it
Smooth texture and use metal to make it stronger.

Balance - usually spear were made by wood or bamboo at the handle or middle of spear and at the sharp end are made by metal. So at the handle human will make it long to make it has the same weight as sharp end. Then human can throw or stab spear with balance and suitable weight

Purpose - the reason that human make spear for kill or hunt animal. They can throw or stab because spear are design for kill long range

This design is make by stone and metal for kill and hunt. After that human develop spear to new weapon that we call "Arrow"

Mesopotamia hunting tools

Mesopotamia hunting tools

In Mesopotamia period. The arrows were made of pine and consisted of a mainshaft and a 15-20 centimetre (6-8 inches) long foreshaft with a flint point. There are no known definite earlier bows or arrows, but stone points which may have been arrowheads. The inspiration thing that made human in this period is a spear. They make a arrow that form look like a spear but smaller than spear for convenient to shoot it. That make this weapon can attack from long range and that to safe from dangerous animals.

First for the material to made bow and arrow in this period. Bows were made of any springy material, including bamboo as well as various types of wood, and the bowstrings were made of animal gut. Arrows, which were normally made of wood shafts, were tipped with arrowheads were first made of burnt wood, then stone or bone.

For balance in bow and arrow is about balance in weight with there material
Example a bow there made from wood or bamboo that very hard because it had to resist when they bend a bow and use an animal guts to make bowstrings that can pull when they bend a bow that make them balance and not fail. For arrow they use a stone or metal to make arrowhead that make a heavy weight at head. They use hard wood and be proper length to make it can hurl

Thridly for movement about bow is curve. The material that use to made bow is hard wood and bamboo and for bowstrings is an animal gut but there two are very hard for use when they want to use they have to pull it in curve form that a good movement. For arrow went they shoot the arrow it not hurl in straight line. But it move curve and straight combine together.

Purpose : in mesopotamia they made hunting tools like bow and arrow that develop from spear to hunt animals for live and they can hunt from long range that make they safe from dangerous animal and for powerful in there tribe.

Egypt hunting tools

Egyptian hunting tools

For Egyptian this period is more religion and about art and pattern. The Egyptians wielded a number of different tools in the hunt: spears, arrows, throw-sticks, nets which had been driven into a wadi and a boomerang type of weapon to take down birds from the sky. Hunting in the marshes included fowling, fishing and possibly the killing of hippopotami. The techniques of the hunt and its pleasures are summed up in a fragmentary papyrus called The Pleasures of Fishing and Fowlin. Hunting provided a lot of different things to the ancient Egyptians. It wasnt just meat and skins, but a chance to prove ones prowess and enjoy the camaraderie of friends on the hunt.

For a unity in hunting tools in this period is in dagger or sword. In the picture A dagger were made by gold all of it even if scabbard it had pattern at the scabbard and handle too. That mean Egypt period was learning and have more art and design than mesopotamia but some art is like mesopotamia

About a dominance in this period is pattern and shape. Example in the picture a sword and dagger made from gold or metal and their had pattern that design for beautiful or artistic and for shape that  make it curve or make for look great in design that mean Egypt take an interest about art and design

For boomerang is a hunting tools in Egypt period. It is a weapon that have more balance when they throw it. It can spin around itself for make force to hurl and then it can spin until it curve and turn     back to person who throw it. That because it had balance to make it spin around and turn back.
